INSIDE A LESSON · SHELF II

Every course is a set of recorded video lessons you stream in a browser. Here is one of them opened up: Star-Hopping to the Deep Sky, 42 lessons of about 12 minutes, in 6 units.
The lesson player
On screen now: the chart, the finder circle and the eyepiece view side by side, so you can see which star you are hopping from.

The rhythm of every lesson
-
01
Watch
A short recorded lesson shows one thing done properly: the real sky, a chart or the eyepiece view, with the reasoning spoken as it happens.
-
02
Pause and try it under your own sky
Each lesson ends with something to do on the next clear night, from a garden or a park. Clouds tonight? The lesson waits for you.
-
03
Check against the worked answer
Come back and compare what you found with the worked answer on screen: the field you should have seen, the star you should have landed on.
-
04
End-of-unit questions
A few questions close each unit, with the answers explained on screen, so you know whether to move on or watch a lesson again.
What you get, and what you don’t
Plain limits, so nothing surprises you after you pay. The same applies to every course and route.
| You get | You don’t get |
|---|---|
| Recorded video lessons, streamed in your browser | Downloadable copies of the lessons |
| Access for 18 months, watched at your own pace | A live tutor or live classes |
| Worked answers and end-of-unit questions on screen | Marking of, or feedback on, your own work |
| A person in the chat for questions about the course or your order | A certificate, qualification or accreditation |
| Access details by email within one working day of payment | Any equipment: we sell courses only |
Honest notes
No one marks your sketches or checks your images. The worked answers are there so you can check yourself, and if you are stuck on something in a lesson you can ask in the chat, where a person replies. That is help with the course, not tutoring.
The weather is not ours to control, and neither are streetlights. Every lesson shows what can be done from an ordinary suburban garden, and the courses are built to be watched on cloudy nights and used on clear ones.
